I looked briefly at Japanese style paintings of fish, I love the delicate application of paint, and the way the brushstrokes really aid in communicating the movement of the fish. I think they are beautiful paintings, making fish look rather alluring. I want to have a similar effect with my fish, depicting these dead fish that are usually regarded as slimy and ugly, as actually quite beautiful by drawing attention to their fascinating scales. 

These were just quick sketches, but I think the vibrancy of the pink lower fish on the left works really well, and that it might not even need the black outline.
